1971 was the first year for the Super beetle, and the 1971/ 1972 models are the sweet spot! They still retain a lot of the “Old style” while bringing in a better MacPherson strut suspension, more safety features, storage room and a stronger motor. That’s right, that 1302 motor pumps out a whopping 50 ponies! That is literally twice what my Craftsman riding lawnmower has!
Seriously though, the 1971 can do something that previous years could only dream of… pass. She will hum right along at 100KPH smoothly and with ease.
Starts with ease, runs great, shifts smooth, and the top goes up and down as it should.
She had a valuation conducted this summer and was valued at 24,000 euros. (Paperwork will be provided.)
Custom interior was tastefully done and is new as of Spring 2026. Underneath she’s solid. No rust. No issues.
There are some small areas of paint bubbling and a few chips, which you don’t see until up close. And the top, could use repair or replacement in the next few years. But, if you enjoy her as she should be, the top is down anyways.
If you are looking for a Sunday driver, this is it! Take her to work on sunny days and watch from the window as people just can’t help but check her out.
Old VWs are easy to work on. Cheap to find parts, and sip gas! Stop looking for “Gifts for him/ her” in Amazon and get your loved one something they will love!
She's over 25 years old so you can take her stateside! She’s over 50 years old so there’s no Dutch road tax!
