Purchased in 2014 from a Mora Clock Supplier, from Sweden.
Back in the late 18th/19th century, as a community, Swedish Farmers would come together in a local co-op craft based industry to fabricate Swedish Mora Clocks to sell.
Thus, supplementing their incomes for this agriculturally poor region of Mora, Sweden during the long, cold winter months / summer droughts.
Each farm family had their specialty in the clock making process and the wooden clock cases would be made by many different individuals …which explains the vast difference in the wide variety of shapely wooden cases, finishes and opulence (ex: wedding gift) etc.
The curvaceous body and aged clock face are an iconic, must have decorating “pièce de résistance“ for so many interior decor styles such as, Swedish Gustavian, which focuses on restrained decoration, simplicity and elegance, Farmhouse &/or Cottage decor styles.
For this reason, Gustavian Mora Clocks are getting harder to find and easily double to triple in price, if purchased from a US vendor …depending on how opulent the design is.
For this particular clock, you can choose to leave the clock in its original Swedish Rosemaling Folk Art hand painted finish and faux wood grain detail on the body for authenticity or strip the paint design and chalk paint it to achieve a more quiet elegance for your unique living room or bedroom interior design style …your call (see provided example photo of the Swedish Gustavian simplistic, yet elegant decor style repainted).
These clocks are coveted for their shapely, curvy wooden casings and are a statement piece without a doubt.
The clock mechanism in this particular clock no longer works …but nothing prevents you from having a professional clockmaker (horologist) determine if it can be repaired.

As with any antique piece of this age it has some imperfections but in no way detracts from the overall beauty aesthetic &/or future possibilities of this hard to find mora clock.
